Happy Birthday!!!;-) x

Happy Birthday to the love of my life!

 ;-)

For his birthday, I bought him something which can only be

 described as 'very him'...

an oak, gentleman's valet stand.

And, knowing that he is a country lover,

I also bought him the, 'Out of Town' dvd set..'The Lost Episodes.'

After a visit to see Helen, Meggy and Toby, for coffee and cake,

I took my other half out for a birthday treat! ;-)

Obviously, he chose to go to Totnes!! ;-)

We had a very lovely lunch in The Seven Stars and then...

we wandered!

And, later in the afternoon, we found ourselves in Narnia!

I first discovered Narnia, before Christmas when I bought this

charming bar set, for a present:

Narnia is packed full of vintage delights, for all tastes.

T'is well worth a visit!

It's on the right hand side as you walk up the hill.

And as C.S. Lewis once said,

Even I never dreamed of Magic like this!”

Sunday 9 March 2014

A Sunday stroll ;-)

There can be no greater pleasure than a stroll around a small, Devon town, on a Sunday,

especially on a sunny, spring day.

This morning, it was Bovey Tracey which took our fancy....as did this superb mosaic,

situated on a wall near the top end of the town.

It's a reminder of the history of Bovey Tracey:

In 1260,  the Market and Fair Charter  was signed

by Henry III.

In 1646, The Battle of Bovey Heath took place, during the English Civil War,

ending in a victory for Cromwell's army.

There is, of course, plenty more history in Bovey Tracey !

This is The Riverside Mill and flowing alongside it is the River Bovey.

Apparently, the building wasn't actually used as a mill. It was built as a stable.

and the water wheel collected water, to be used in the stables.

This restored mill is home to The Devon Guild of Craftsmen.

We took a break there, for coffee, this morning.

But I have to say that for me, the appearance of so many splashes of yellow

around the town, was the most cheery and welcoming sight.
