I dreamed a dream...or did I?

It's a strange old life!

We strolled along the Portobello Road, early on the morning of Saturday 2nd Feb,

having caught the train from Newton Abbot (at some unearthly hour!)

My head was in a whirl after all that had been happening lately but I was determined to enjoy

this trip! The fact that my lovely family had got together and organised it a few months ago,

made me all the more determined.

And it's funny what you can find, if you open your eyes wide enough.

I spotted this plaque on the wall of a house on the way to the market.

But what I was really itching to do was to get to Shaftesbury Avenue

for the matinee performance of Les Mis!

And needless to say it was brilliant!

Sitting one side of me,in the theatre, was a lady who was on her ninth visit!

On the other side of Mr S, a gentleman who was there

for his 80th birthday treat!

Well, what a treat!

And Eponine was played by Danielle Hope, who had won the part of Dorothy

on the tv some time ago.

It was the best show I have ever seen...and I'd go again and again!

The words and music stayed with me all night...and when I woke the next morning

it really felt as if I had 'dreamed a dream'.

I had loved every minute of it!

On Sunday morning, as London was waking up,

we caught the tube to Islington, had breakfast and then

made our way to the Town Hall.

I'd noticed an ad for a vintage pop up market!

It was quite a small market but there were some lovely

clothes and accessories.

I got chatting to the owners of this stall,

'The Dress Circle'

A lovely display.

After this, we made our way to Covent Garden.

I've wanted to visit The London Transport Museum for such a long time!

I once took a class of children to Syon Park, Brentford, where it was

previously housed and we'd had a fantastic trip. That was years ago.

And oh...those vintage posters!!

That done, we walked... a lot!

We had a brief dive into Liberty, if only to see the lovely interior of the building.

Then a quick nose in the Apple shop !

And then a very long walk along Oxford Street; past Marble Arch,

and back to Paddington.

It was a weekend to remember... and I thank my lovely family for making it happen!!
