'ello 'ello 'ello! Whats going on 'ere then ? ;-)

A certain someone's birthday is coming very soon!

But what to give him?!

Just after we were married, I recall racking my brains !

I had no idea what to get dear Mr S!

And then, lo and behold, I saw an advert in Country Living:

Dumb waiters, hand crafted!

' Ah ha ', thought I...so I rang the number in the advert

and after a long conversation and much secrecy...

Mr S 'number 2' was born!!

(OMG it's bad enough living with one of them, let alone two!!) ;-)

At the time, Mr Snippets was a proud member of the Devon and Cornwall Police

and so it seemed rather apt to present him with this lovely dumb waiter.

Incredibly, I think it's quite a likeness!! And I do remember

laughing my head off when it arrived!

Of course, he was not Mr Snippets at the time,

that name being relatively new!

Anyway...hope you all have a lovely weekend...and behave yourselves!

I'm off to Totnes tomorrow ... present hunting!

Vintage hankies for doll sized fashions! A fabulous book!

A few weeks ago, I stumbled across the nicest book on Amazon!

The only trouble was that it had not been published and so I pre ordered it

and thought I'd have to wait a while.

I hate waiting for things!

Then I received an email to say that the book would be

available sooner than first stated.

And it arrived today!

'I've always had a love affair with fabric'

Hmmm....that sounds familiar!!

This book is such a treat and is full of ideas and patterns for doll sized fashions

... and inspiration for so much more!

I can see a huge increase in the sales of vintage (and even non vintage)

hankies and Sindy/Barbie dolls!

Ha ha...how to keep your husband...well, maybe not when you are constantly

blogging and hunting for vintage items, every day!

Anyway...this book is a must ; it's delightful and at £6.99

with free postage it's a bargain!

Well that's what I think!

Go to the link below. You can take a look inside the book and there

are plenty of pages to look at!

So much to enjoy! ;-)

Something that Mr S and I have been meaning to do for ages is
to have a 'once a week film night'.
Somehow, we just haven't got around to organising it because
I'm usually too tired after I've finished teaching in the evenings
and I just want to flop into an armchair.

However, at last we've made the effort!

And we started with the best, on Friday night!

'The King's Speech'

Oh boy did I enjoy this film! I loved every minute of it;
I thought the cast was superb and I found myself wanting to watch
it all over again, asap!

If you haven't seen it...do!!

Next week, we're watching 'Amelie' . I can't wait for that one either !

Meanwhile...

Our jolly jaunt on Saturday took us, eventually, to Widecombe in the Moor.

It was so quiet there with very few people around although,
amazingly, we bumped into a very good friend
as we were making our way back to our car.

The trundle across the moors was so beautiful but it was oh so very cold
in South Devon, yesterday!

Earlier in the day, we had visited Ashburton.
I hadn't been down to Ashburton for a while and so it was lovely to
pop in and see Sarah and her mum, in their Vintage Emporium.

I don't think the temperature got above 2 degrees all day and I truly

was glad to get home and have a cuppa!

Mr S managed to find a live stream to watch his beloved Arsenal, online,

whilst I logged in to have a quick chat with a friend

in Canada (Hi Gray!) who was following the fortunes of

another great team ...Torquay United!

How I laughed when he gave me the news of a goal

faster than both Sky Sports TV AND Nich's text

(he was at the match, freezing himself silly!)

Comes to something when you get your footy news much faster

from Canada! How mad is that?!

Finally...

Tonight is the last episode of South Riding.

I've loved this too!

I remember watching and very much enjoying the 1974 adaptation,

with Dorothy Tutin and also reading the book, years ago .

I think that this new adaptation is excellent too.

And, if you're as interested as I am to find out more about the author,

Winifred Holtby, here's a bit of info:
