'You know you can win...don't give up the chase!! '

I have the flags!
Got the wall chart!
Three lions are etched..
upon my heart...

I've painted my face!
(I look a sight!)
I'm gonna have a ball...
...tonight!

The greatest show on earth...
for me!
I'm too excited
to drink my tea!

My heart says England!
My head says Spain!
I know I'm going to suffer
PAIN!

I've waited for this
for nearly four years
Last time brought
so many tears!

South Africa...
I'm World Cup ready!
Come on lads!
Keep it steady!

I have a notion
I think I'm right
The world's in motion
ready to fight.

For every match
a front row seat
Bring on the footy!
Feel the heat!

Zakumi,
he's the mascot see
He's 'attitude'
That's fine by me!

I have to admit
I've World Cup Fever
I hope we win!
I'm a believer!

And here's the prize!
The gleaming cup!
T'was Jules Rimet
who thought this up!

But if it's lost ...
and it has been known!
Nich's improvised ...
all on his own!
Two Dartington vases!
Make the prize!
Our own World Cup!
Before our eyes!

LOL!!!!!

Have a wonderful World Cup!
and if you hate footy...well tough!! ;-) LOL

Here's your dates, times etc etc

And see you on July 11th for the final!

Goldfinches and fabric! ;-)

We've waited and waited!

The Niger seeds, bought three weeks ago, have also waited patiently!

'Eat us', they have shouted to the Goldfinches...but to no avail.
And then yesterday, whilst I was busy teaching, lo and behold, just like buses, they all came along at once!

Mr S managed to snap this photo (above), from the lounge. I reckon it's pretty good!

Meanwhile..I'm looking out at this...

It's raining and there's a very gloomy sky but 'the garden needs it' is what we are all saying to
each other.

Give a garden a bit of rain and it greens up so quickly!

So I'm up nice 'n early to sort out a few things for my little 'At Home' event , starting next week!
And starting with fabric...

Recycled fabric to be exact!

Imagine this lot as a quilt!

All labelled and ready to go.

Now for some oldies but goldies...

I put these little embellishments on the packs just to add interest but in all honesty, Ikea Rosali does not really need that !

I used to sell tons of this fabric on ebay..and then ,would you believe some little swine reported
me for daring to mention the name of CK in the listings..and I had so many listings removed.

I no longer sell on ebay!

That's ebay's loss! I could sell this if I went down to Newton Market..or anywhere for that matter! ;-)

Anyway, it's goodbye from her for the time being...but they will be in my sale next week and also
at the Textile Fair.

More patchwork...

These are cutesy patchwork packs. I love them!

The photos don't do them justice really.
I pegged lots of vintage pieces together on some fabric circles which I bought from Amanda.

(Well, the circles are meant to be jam pot covers but who cares! ;-)

And then there are the 1930s/40s cotton fabrics and cotton feedsacks.
My very favourites!
I can't believe the prices of some of these on ebay!
I watched an auction the other day which must have broken all records for one yard!
I've updated my own shop...

So with plenty to cut and label , my day is planned.

And I might just make myself a sunhat with this very cheery fabric! ;-)
Finally, a winner...from this blog post:
The winner is Gill from...
Please email me your name and address,Gill!
Thanks to everyone for taking part!
Have a great day ;-)

You're in the 'we're gonna have a party carriage!' LOL

You would never think that you are in a city when you stand in these gardens and listen to the birdsong.... and peace and quiet surrounds you.

And that is what I love about Exeter ; there are so many green spaces and hidden places and you don't have to walk far to find them.

The Rougemont Gardens are a few seconds from the city centre and thus peace and quiet lives side by side with hustle, bustle and noise... and neither really interupts the other.

This is where Shakespeare in the Gardens has taken place in previous years.

This would be your view if you were sitting in the audience and the natural bowl lend itself to the perfect setting.

...especially for 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' !

This is Rougemont Castle, nowadays the setting for many events, including a concert by Coldplay, last year!

Moving on ..here's a little bit of history if you are wanting to find out more:

I very much enjoyed my wander through the gardens yesterday.

But that was just the beginning of the very long walk around Exeter .
We left the gardens.
I had a date with a mural...

Here is a welcome splash of colour just when you are least expecting it!
It's situated near the library.

Exeter has a number of murals .
This one depicts a little of the history of Exeter and it looked to me as if this one had been recently renovated!
But move on we had to!
So much to do and so little time!!

After a quick sandwich and a drink, sitting by the Cathedral and listening to the choir
practising, we were striding down to Exeter Quay!
Pink Valerian is everywhere!

It takes less than ten minutes to walk down to Exeter Quay...a tad longer to walk back up, depending on the route that you choose to take.
But you won't be disappointed.

There's a small antiques and collectables shop and there are also plenty of places to eat and drink.
It's a place alive and yet another reminder of Exeter's past in the form of its maritime history.

Time to move on...

Passing the very famous 'House that moved' , we took a different route back, passing the oldest medieval bridge in England.

And we cleverly found ourselves at the bottom of Fore Street, where there just happens to be the best jolly junk shop ever!

You can't beat Otto .
It's junk at its best!
The stock turns over quicker than anything I have ever known, probably because the prices are so reasonable.

As we walked up Fore Street, not having ventured anywhere near a 'clone shop', I suddenly felt quite weary.
Just when I thought I'd had a day filled with culture and fine things...the journey home ,as usual was eventful!
We arrived at Dawlish Warren and all of a sudden...loud words were shouted through the window:
'You're in the we're gonna have a party carriage'
(Yeah it had to be my carriage, didn't it?!)
Invaded! By a stag party!
So... I found myself sitting with a Viking Warrior!
(Like you do!)

And a guy with red and green tights...

A day, which had been very much a step back into history, was suddenly catapulted forward, to present time !
Or was it?
The man with the tights could have stepped right out of that mural
AND
I do believe that the Vikings attacked Exeter in around the year 1001 !
So maybe past and present are far more intertwined than we realise!!
Or maybe I had just dropped off briefly and got my history completely muddled!
Whatever...
I ended the day with a huge smile on my face!
And if I can do that, then I know that I've had a really good day !!
Exeter at its best...my guided tour is now over!
Hope your Saturday was as good!
;-)
